I have to admit that, eating has always meant more than simply filling my stomach for me. I believe that one should first satisfy the hunger of their eyes on the table. When I enter a restaurant, I always pay heed of every detail, including position of the tables, the pictures hanged on the walls, colour of handkerchiefs and whether or not the tableware are present on the table. Each and every one of these details is part of the whole that supports the taste of the dinner. This experience in whole is called “Fine dining” abroad. At most of the companies I worked, my interest in dining rituals has so far led me to usually eat my dinners at surrounding restaurants during lunch breaks. I would think on how I would make the most of the lunch that I had during the one-hour lunch break and the chatter that I would enjoy with my colleagues. All these worries of mine disappeared the day I joined the Anadolu Group. On my first work day, I said “this dining hall is a blessing to me”. I understood that the place is not simply a “dining hall”.

With these feelings, we have recently hosted the gurus of Mekanist, the dining review portal, at our restaurant. Our intention was to ensure that the friends from outside whose food comments we rely on would experience the privilege that we enjoy every day as employees. I will hardly forget the happy expression that Mekanist gurus had on their face from the moment that they stepped into the restaurant until the last sip of the coffee that we had following the meal.

After all, this gourmet group, who do tasting at different establishments every day, was impressed by the tasting they had at the Anadolu Group Headquarters Corporate Restaurant, whose only goal is to make its employees and the Group employees happy. Acclaim from this group, who tasted offerings from the hands of the master-of-all-tastes chiefs, made me once again realize how lucky I am to work at the Anadolu Group. It is not just because of my interest in eating& drinking. I felt lucky because of the privilege that I have as a member of a group that makes its employees valued with the small details and is aware of the fact that employee commitment may not be built with traditional human resources projects alone.

A happy working environment is critical today, in particular for the workforce belonging to Generation Y. The Anadolu Group Headquarters Corporate Restaurant, with its daily-changing menu, its environment that falls nothing short of an elegant restaurant, and its smiling staff, makes up a key part of the Anadolu Group’s “Happiness at Work” approach…
