We continue to achieve firsts in the agricultural sector with our MİÇO (Children of Agricultural Guest Workers) Project

As  Anadolu Etap we regard social, economic and environmental sustainability as one of our most important values in all of our operations. With the responsibility to leave a more livable world to the younger generation, we are the first agricultural company to publish Sustainable Agriculture Principles in Turkey. We preserve natural resources and support our farmers and their children, to leave a good footprint for the future in line with these principles.

We give priority to employ women daily and seasonal workers in our farms to support the participation of women in the workforce. In 2015 we provided employment to 2,000 people at our farms, 70% of which were women.

Now we have signed off on a first for our children, the foundations of our future.

We have become the first agricultural company in Turkey to open a summer school to provide uninterrupted education for our seasonal workers’ children, whom we regard as guests at our farms (Children of Agricultural Guest Workers – MİÇO), so that they can continue their education and development and gain new skills. In 2015 150 and in 2016 155 children attended summer schools.

During the months of June – August, with the cooperation of the Çanakkale and Balıkesir Provincial National Education Directorates and Public Education Centers, we continued to provide education at our summer schools in the Kumkale and Tahirova farms as we have last year. 100 children between the ages of 4 and 14 at our Kumkale farm in Çanakkale and 55 children at our Tahirova farm enjoyed an educational and entertaining term with Turkish, music, gym, folk dancing, art and handcraft classes under the supervision of 10 teachers.

The art and handcrafts made by children attending classes at the Çanakkale Kumkale farm were displayed in an event organized on August 25 in Çanakkale. The concert and folk dancing performances displayed by our students were also greeted with great interest. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to this project.

We will continue to produce with our visionary perspective, sense of responsibility and our tradition of innovation and we will continue to work for our future generations.
